Burj El Murr

About

The building Burj El Murr stands in Beirut as a monumental reminder of the 1975 Lebanese civil war.

The construction was never finished and the tower stands today as a traumatic symbol. Burj El Murr Project proposes an architectural intervention to the building, to heal traumas of which people are constantly reminded. The new design reactivates and refurbishes the site, using designs that resemble the act of adaptive restoration and healing, creating an alternative positive interpretation to the iconic construction and reactivating the surrounding urban area.
