# 2018 Cohabitation by Design |

Cohabitation by Design is a flat-pack furniture kit designed for attracting and living together with migrating birds. The project challenges the idea of ‘existing with’ the environment by treating migratory animals passing through human-dominated areas with hospitality. The project transforms ordinary domestic objects, such as desks and jars, into interspecies meeting places. Focused on migratory songbirds and their need to hydrate during stopovers, this project offers a convenient way for people to provide sanctuary to the birds by erecting a specially designing rehydration table below their window. Cohabitation by Design reimagines the animal-human relationship by exploring the space in between anthropocentric and biocentric perspectives and adding new layers of meaning to familiar objects.
Celina is an Argentinean strategic designer based in New York curious in exploring the political valence of design. Combining design-led research, system thinking, and collaborative spirit with her sense of environmental and social responsibility, Celina likes implementing different approaches and methods to generate civic engagement and behavioral change. Through a blend of creativity, social and natural science, and critical framing, Celina is currently exploring design as a tool for challenging human exceptionalism and create new ways of inhabiting and sensing the world.more
