A hands-free, wearable device to support medical staff communication during surgery

Headway is a wearable device designed to improve the safety of minimally invasive surgery (MIS). Inefficient communication can occur in MIS between the surgeon operating the surgical tools and the assistant manipulating the camera. Headway can make communication among members of the surgical team safer, easier, and more efficient. It allows surgeons to precisely point to anatomical structures, gesture, and teach, without scrubbing out and without using their hands. The system includes a Headset worn by the surgeon and a Hardware Box that processes infrared signals from the Headset and overlays an on-screen indicator for other users.
