Tactuitive

About

Bowls and dishes for visually impaired users

Tactuitive is a collection of tactile tableware, designed to help the visually-impaired distinguish between similarly shaped vessels. The set is composed of four items: a rice bowl, a soup bowl, a side dish bowl and a tea cup. Inspired by the converging and diverging patterns in sound, users can distinguish individual vessels by the number of converging and diverging lines on their exterior surface. This purely touch-based approach empowers visually-impaired uses to recognise the function of their tableware without assistance. Tactuitive envisions an inclusive design language built upon non-visual, understated forms.
